47749 + 73968 in tandem t'n't 73966 = 1M11 2154 Glasgow QS-Euston to Edinburgh(749 and 73 in tandem).
The tandem working of 47749 and 73968 came about after the 47 originally set off but travelled a quarter of a mile before being failed with low power. Once topped by the 73 the pair worked the service to Edinburgh powering in tandem all the way from Queen Street station. This is believed to be the first time a 47 and a 73/9 have worked in tandem. A 47 has been in tow behind a 73/9 before to provide ETS but without a qualified 47 driver sat in the 47 (just a fitter). There are no confirmed services that have been known to have ever had both a 47 and 73 in tandem either. Anybody think of any? Asking around so far has produced no answers other than "Can't be the first time surely" and "Must've happened at some time in the past".
