03/04/66: 47281 in original guise as D1983 at a snowy Redmarshall on an April Sunday with 1N33 0920 Doncaster-Newcastle. Evidently this was routed away from the ECML and via Eaglescliffe and Stockton, before heading back to the ECML at Ferry Hill. The photo was taken to the east of Redmarshall, and the signal for the other road that isn't set was for a mostly-freight-at-this-time route to Ryhope and Sunderland via Thornley and Shotton Collierys.
Photo Copyright: Brian Sherrington collection, thanks also to Richard Boyd who points out a Deltic related website at napier-chronicles.co.uk which has timetable details for the ECML from 1961 to 1981.

thanks for news today: 31466, Big Dan, Colas Rail, Crumb, Driff47844, Simon Mcglen, Roger Smith, Ben Wheeler.
